[Webinar] "Leveraging patient engagement to improve profitability and efficiency within your surgical practice"
Webinar series with patient engagement expert and Emmi cofounder, Jordan Dolin
Now more than ever, physicians need to adopt patient engagement techniques. The US healthcare system is asking physicians to be more accountable, as reimbursements, penalties, and incentives are transitioning from a volume-based model to a value-based care model. By 2025, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services aims for 100% participation in value-based care risk programs for Medicare physicians and 50% participation in value-based care for Medicaid and commercial contracts. This top-level initiative pushes physicians towards methods that focus on quality rather than quantity of services. Alternative payment models are forcing huge behavioral changes among physicians as they seek for patients to take an active role in their care. For primary care physicians, this means incentivizing patients to take preventative screenings and participate in the self-management of their chronic conditions. For specialists, the transition to value-based care is a bit more challenging as incentives are tied to bundled payments and patient care is less structured around the hospital setting. With less face-to-face time with patients, surgeons no longer have the time to develop strong provider-patient relationships that promote positive healthcare outcomes. Surgeons have to be more effective with the little time they have with patients to promote medical compliance. Changing behaviors and improving compliance has never been easy, and with less time and lower reimbursements, clinicians have no choice but to find patient engagement solutions that extend their limited resources.
In this webinar series, Jordan Dolin explores these challenges and how surgeons can specifically utilize patient engagement.
